What to Expect
We are recruiting for a Head of Security to join our fantastic Services function. As the Head of Security, you will report to the Director of Facilities Management of McLaren Automotive.
You will be responsible for developing and executing the security strategy for the McLaren Technology Centre, its employees, facilities, and special events venues and other office and development facilities.
You will also provide leadership, oversight, and expertise in matters related to the protection of the site, staff, and facilities, intellectual and property loss mitigation, aviation logistics compliance, and assistance in mitigating reputational risks to the brand.
What You'll Do
- Developing and implementing a security strategy that encompasses physical security systems, access control, and CCTV for the McLaren Technology Centre and surrounding sites and assets
- Developing a corporate security protective intelligence capability to anticipate, identify, and mitigate threats/risks to McLaren’s travellers, employees, physical assets, reputation, supply chain risks, and business operations
- Leading the organisation’s preparedness for events that could disrupt business operations, including targeted attacks, natural events, and criminal activity
- Assisting compliance and legal functions to ensure the company is compliant with local, national, and global regulations, especially in privacy, health and safety, and crisis management oversight
- Continually conducting research on and executing security management solutions to maintain safety, provide a competitive advantage, and advise on emerging security technologies
- Leading and inputting into the installation, maintenance, and monitoring of all security and access control systems to ensure the safety and security of all company assets and personnel
- Collaborating with site managers to ensure consistent security practices and compliance with local regulations
- Conducting regular security audits and risk assessments to identify potential threats and implement corrective actions
- Managing a regional travel security program, including risk-assessing travel itineraries, delivering pre-deployment briefings, monitoring travellers, and providing on-call assistance as required
- Designing and implementing risk-based protection measures for senior personnel traveling within the region, including high-risk events and meetings
- Overseeing the company's global emergency response and crisis management communication, ensuring seamless process implementation and appropriate responses to crises
- Driving and delivering safety and security advice at national and international events, coaching senior leadership and managers to own their security culture proportional to the risks
- Developing and leading company-wide security initiatives, fostering a security culture by educating senior leadership, managers, and employees, and raising awareness across the business teams and site
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Security Management, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred – or relevant experience
- Proven experience in a senior security leadership role, preferably in a multinational organisation
- Extensive knowledge of physical security systems
- Strong understanding of global security regulations and best practices
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CPP are highly desirable
- Passion for security, with excellent presentation, writing, communication, and consensus-building skills
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications and an aptitude for employing security technologies
- Team player with an agile mindset, industry influencer, and security evangelist.
- Willingness to operate in and out of routine working hours in response to regional incidents affecting McLaren
- Ability to lead and influence in a global matrix organisation
- Maintains confidentiality with the highest standards of ethics, compliance, and respectful leadership style
