Job summary

Bedelsford School in Greater London is seeking an enthusiastic Head of Secondary/Post 16 to lead our school community and drive the mission of high-quality, inclusive education. You will oversee the Secondary and Sixth Form, ensuring effective timetabling, staff support and curriculum delivery.

The role requires QTS with substantial leadership experience in secondary/SEND settings, strong communication skills and a commitment to safeguarding and inclusion.

Qualifications

• QTS with substantial leadership experience in secondary and/or SEND settings.
• Ability to motivate, support and develop staff within a senior leadership team.
• Strong knowledge of curriculum planning, assessment and accreditation pathways for students with additional needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Secondary and Sixth Form departments, ensuring effective day-to-day organisation of staff, resources, timetables and curriculum delivery.
• Drive high-quality teaching by supporting staff to deliver personalised, differentiated programmes for academic, social, emotional and life skills.
• Oversee student accreditation pathways, ensuring qualifications are identified, delivered and evidenced to maximise outcomes.
• Lead the school's Careers Education programme, ensuring Gatsby Benchmarks compliance and supporting students for adulthood and further education.
• Build partnerships with parents, external agencies, colleges and employers to support positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Key Requirements:

• (Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) withsubstantial experience of teaching and leading within a secondary and/orspecial educational needs (SEND) setting.
• Proven leadership and management skills, with theability to motivate, support, and develop staff while working collaborativelyas part of a senior leadership team.
• Strong knowledge of curriculum planning,assessment, accreditation pathways, and preparing students with additionalneeds for adulthood and future destinations.
• Excellent communication and relationship-buildingskills, with experience of working effectively with families, externalprofessionals, and multi-agency partners.
