Job summary

Nonington Church of England Primary School invites applications for a Teaching Head of School to lead our small, nurturing primary whilst teaching a KS2 class. You will collaborate with the Executive Headteacher, staff and governors to drive improvement and ensure excellent education for every child.

Qualifications

Job description

Nonington Church of England Primary School are seeking an inspirational, committed and resilient Teaching Head of School to join our small, nurturing primary school. This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious leader who is passionate about improving outcomes for all children and is excited by the opportunity to combine strategic leadership with classroom teaching.

As our Teaching Head of School, you will lead the day-to-day running of the school while teaching a Key Stage 2 class. You will work closely with the Executive Headteacher, staff, governors and the wider community to drive school improvement and ensure every child receives an exceptional education.

Our school has a small roll with a significant proportion of pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). We are looking for someone who embraces inclusion, understands the importance of building strong relationships with children and families, and has the determination to ensure every pupil can thrive.

We are looking for someone who:
  • Is an outstanding primary classroom practitioner with experience of teaching in Key Stage 2
  • Has successful leadership experience and is ready to take on, or further develop, a Head of School role
  • Has a strong understanding of high-quality inclusive practice, particularly for pupils with SEND and those facing disadvantage.
  • Has excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Can inspire, motivate and develop staff through supportive and effective leadership.
  • Holds the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) qualification or is willing to undertake the training immediately upon appointment.
The role will include:
  • Teaching a Key Stage 2 class to a consistently high standard.
  • Responsibility for leading aspects of the day to dayrunningof the school
  • Leading on safeguarding as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
  • Supporting staff development and maintaining high expectations for teaching, learning and behaviour.
  • Developing strong partnerships with parents, carers and external agencies.
