An exciting opportunity has arisen for a forward-thinking and dynamic Consultant to be the new Head of School of Medicine and Pathology. The School provides a framework for partnership between NHS England, The Royal College of Physicians, The Royal College of Pathologists, and local Trusts, to ensure high standards of specialty training.
This challenging role requires leadership in postgraduate education, stakeholder negotiation, and maintaining high standards. The role involves supporting current training programs, service transformation, and developing new training opportunities.
The Head of School reports professionally and managerially to the Postgraduate Dean. The role focuses on improving learner supervision, assessment, engagement of faculty, and educational outcomes. It also emphasizes workforce transformation, multi-professional links, innovative curriculum delivery, and workforce well-being strategies. Senior clinicians may have additional roles as agreed with the Postgraduate Dean.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend at least 40% of their time working in-person.
Successful candidates will undergo an Inter Authority Transfer (IAT) process in ESR, which collects relevant employment information. You may decline participation at any time.
The position is on a secondment basis for an initial three years, extendable pending satisfactory appraisal. The role includes three Educational Management Contributions (EMCs) per week, with support for personal and educational development. The fixed funding for this role is £36,000 per annum as EMCs.
