Job description

The University of Wolverhampton is seeking a new Head of School of Architecture, Computing & Engineering (ACE) to provide visionary leadership at a time of huge opportunity and growth at the University.

Reporting to the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, Professor Andy Gibson, the Head of this flagship school is a key member of the Faculty Executive team and will provide strategic leadership and drive performance and growth in the School and across the Faculty in student recruitment, research income, and teaching quality. The Faculty is currently celebrating the award of a £20m investment to develop a green engineering materials and manufacturing centre.

The School of Architecture, Computing & Engineering combines architecture, the built environment, computing, and engineering disciplines from civil to chemical. This is an exciting opportunity to lead an ambitious school at the heart of the University’s future—including the relocation of Engineering from Telford to the University’s city centre Springfield site next to the National Brownfield Institute.

The incoming Head of School will bring an outstanding track record in leading change to drive student success, research growth, external engagement, industry, and international partnerships, with demonstrable strengths in bringing people together and thriving in a diverse and inclusive environment. The ideal candidate will be an experienced head of school or head of a large department with a background in at least one of the School’s core disciplines.

Our staff and students come from a wide range of backgrounds, and we are therefore interested to hear from applicants who represent the diversity of our staff and student population.
