Job Description

Danfoss Power Solutions (DPS) is looking for the Head of Sales, Australia & New Zealand (ANZ), for the Controls Division. This leader is responsible for overseeing all respective customer-relation functions within the region. This remit includes ANZ sales for the Controls Division, Engineering, and Commercial operations.

The role is responsible for developing and executing a profitable growth plan in Australia and New Zealand. As such, this role is accountable for the profitability of the Power Solution entities in Australia and New Zealand.

DPS operates in a matrix structure, meaning that sales activity within this region crosses multiple divisions; strong stakeholder management capability will be critical to the success of this role.

The ANZ Head of Sales will need to inform and consult Divisional leaders and product stakeholders, as appropriate, to ensure continuous alignment with overall company policy, strategy, and targets. The Head of Sales will also need to engage with other Danfoss leadership within ANZ and the broader Asia-Pacific region.

This position will report to the Vice President, Sales & Marketing Controls Division, a member who is based in a different time zone. DPS is a global organization with a worldwide presence, and you must have the ability and willingness to travel domestically within ANZ approximately 30% of the time.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following :

  • Act as a local business leader; promoting the success of DPS and DPS employees by resolving customer and business issues and managing people locally.
  • Build strong credibility and enduring positive senior-level relationships with local customers to promote and grow regional business.
  • Serve as a direct connection to Divisional leaders – be an efficient communicator and consensus builder. This includes coordination and collaboration with the Divisions to operationally support the region and address challenges as they arise.
  • Monitor the country's competitive environment to identify business threats and opportunities and develop commercial business plans.
  • Provide clear direction for the sales teams to meet and exceed DPS’ local and overall revenue, expenses, and margins.
  • Oversee and monitor pricing strategies, compare competitor pricing, and establish prices within the region.
  • Lead the development of continuous improvement actions to motivate higher levels of performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Identify and develop the local talent required to drive forward ambitious plans and to build bench strength and talent pipeline within the region.

Ideal Candidate Skills

The ideal candidate possesses these skills :

  • Qualification in Engineering or Business Preferred.
  • 10+ years of managerial experience is a requirement, preferably in a sales environment.
  • Superior business acumen and strategy deployment expertise.
  • Understanding of the mobile hydraulic market would be an advantage but not essential.
  • Be fluent in verbal and written forms of English.
  • Strong communication skills – proactively engages stakeholders and thinks about forward impact.
  • Experience recruiting and managing multidisciplinary teams with a proven track record of successfully developing teams within global and matrix organizations.
  • Strong personal resilience; highly motivated team player with a dedicated personal drive.
  • Growth mindset : someone who encourages the team to continuously look for ways to improve, persist in the face of setbacks, and embrace challenges.
