Head of Sales – Construction & Heavy Machinery Location: Home-based, covering East Midlands & East of England (Cambridgeshire, Suffolk, Norfolk, Essex, Leicestershire, East Nottingham, Peterborough)

Salary: Up to £80,000 DOE + Uncapped Commission (1% of Turnover) + Bonus + Car Allowance + Benefits
A leading UK machinery dealer and service provider is seeking an experienced Head of Sales to take full ownership of its national sales function. Specialising in machinery for the construction, recycling, aggregates, and forestry sectors, the business offers a high-performance product range and end-to-end customer support across the UK and Europe.
As Head of Sales, you will be responsible for leading a regional team of sales professionals, shaping commercial strategy, and driving year-on-year revenue growth. This is a senior, hands-on position ideal for a commercially minded sales leader who thrives in a field-based, product-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, manage, and develop a national field-based sales team to deliver against agreed targets and KPIs.
  • Set and execute the sales strategy, including team structure, performance metrics, and growth plans.
  • Deliver onboarding, training, and mentoring to support the development of high-performing sales professionals.
  • Provide accurate pipeline reporting, market analysis, and performance forecasts directly to the Managing Director.
  • Take ownership of new business acquisition, key account expansion, and customer retention strategies.
  • Represent the company at industry trade shows, exhibitions, and customer-facing events.
  • Work closely with internal teams on product planning, stock strategy, pricing, and marketing support.
  • Continually review and refine sales processes to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Experience & Requirements
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in B2B sales within the construction or heavy machinery sector, ideally with OEM or dealer experience.
  • At least 3 years in a senior sales leadership role, ideally as a Head of Sales, Regional Sales Manager, or equivalent.
  • Proven track record of managing a team and delivering sustained revenue growth.
  • Technical knowledge of heavy machinery, such as excavators, crushers, screeners, and telehandlers.
  • Strong knowledge of UK sales territories and customer base within relevant sectors.
  • CRM experience and strong reporting, forecasting, and sales planning skills.
  • Comfortable with both strategic oversight and hands-on team engagement.
