Job Title: Head of Reserving / Reserving Lead
Location: London (Hybrid) 2days per week in the office
Type: Permanent
Industry: (Re)Insurance | Actuarial | London Market

Overview:
We're seeking an experienced Reserving Actuary to lead reserving activities across Casualty, Specialty and Property lines within a global reinsurance business. This is a high-impact, senior role offering the opportunity to drive reserving insights, influence underwriting strategies, and shape portfolio profitability.

You'll act as a trusted advisor to leadership and work closely with cross-functional teams including underwriting, claims, capital modelling, and data science. The role reports directly to the Chief Reserving Actuary - International and Reinsurance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead quarterly reserving analysis for Casualty and Specialty reinsurance portfolios, presenting results to senior stakeholders.
  • Deliver insightful analysis on trends, emerging risks, and portfolio drivers to support strategic underwriting decisions.
  • Champion reserving best practices, ensuring consistency, rigour, and compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with underwriting, business actuarial, claims and capital modelling teams to align on profitability and risk perspectives.
  • Contribute to the parameterisation and validation of reserve risk for internal capital models.
  • Support regulatory deliverables, including the Statement of Actuarial Opinion and statutory audits.
  • Mentor and develop junior members of the reserving team.

What We're Looking For:

  • Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (or equivalent)
  • Strong experience in London Market reserving, ideally across Casualty and Specialty (re)insurance
  • Deep understanding of actuarial reserving techniques, regulatory frameworks (e.g. US GAAP, Solvency II), and capital modelling interfaces
  • Ability to distil technical results into clear, commercially-focused insights
  • Proven experience influencing underwriting and senior stakeholders
  • Proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement and innovation
  • Strong communication, leadership and interpersonal skills

Why This Role?
This is an opportunity to join a highly regarded actuarial team within a forward-thinking, globally connected business. You'll be part of a culture that values technical excellence, transparency, and cross-disciplinary collaboration - with the freedom to shape how actuarial reserving supports wider business success.
