Position: Head of Requirements & Capabilities – Air Power

Function: R&C

Duration: Permanent

Hours: 37 hours - full time

Location(s): Harlow/Glenrothes (Hybrid) - must be willing to travel regularly.

Security Clearance: SC Cleared or ability to obtain clearance.

Travel: Willingness to undertake regular (~10 trips) international travel.

About Raytheon UK

Raytheon UK (RUK) is looking for a Business Development Executive to support our strong position in the air domain capability. The ideal candidate will have experience within the Royal Air Force, preferably within MOD/RAF capability planning or acquisition, or working with the RAF on programmes/projects.

The candidate should have a good understanding of Air concepts and doctrine, defence operations, and complex weapons and sensors requirements of the RAF and global partners.

This role involves engaging with RAF HQ, MSQH, NAD, and other procurement areas to understand upcoming programmes and position Raytheon for large strategic procurements.

Relationship management within the RAF command structure and the ability to build new relationships are crucial. There may also be a need to extend relationship building to other services.

This is a high-profile role within Raytheon, focused on developing the Air market to achieve growth plans.

Main Duties:
  • Developing growth strategies for Raytheon in the global Air weapons market.
  • Preparing and initiating action plans to find new opportunities and expand the customer base.
  • Building strong relationships with existing customers and developing new routes-to-market as needed.
  • Managing and qualifying an opportunity pipeline.
  • Maintaining regular contact with potential customers to stay informed of upcoming opportunities.
  • Delivering presentations and demonstrations to customers.
  • Preparing forecasts, reports, and presentations for management.
  • Leading bid teams in proposal and quotation preparations, and following up with customers.
  • Providing market intelligence to the Raytheon UK Competitive Intelligence team.
Required Skills and Experience:
  • Strong relationships with key influencers and decision-makers in the UK Air sector.
  • Extensive experience with government and military sectors.
  • Deep Defence background with understanding of customer procurement processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Influencing skills and ability to present ideas persuasively.
  • Understanding of customer and market dynamics.
Desired Skills & Experience:
  • Knowledge of the UK weapons market and key players.
  • Experience with the Royal Air Force, MOD/RAF capability planning or acquisition, or RAF programmes/projects.
  • Membership in relevant professional institutions (Sales, Engineering, or Programme Management).
