Job Description:

Head of the Real Estate & Infrastructure Operations team responsible for providing end-to-end specialist accounting and operational support for Columbia Threadneedle Investments' circa. £7BN UK Real Estate and Infrastructure businesses.
This role oversees the team delivering business-as-usual accounting and operational support, manages change, and drives operational excellence aligned with strategic and tactical business goals.


Key responsibilities include:

  1. Managing departmental planning to adapt to change and meet strategic objectives.
  2. Driving departmental and cross-team improvements for operational excellence.
  3. Managing three direct reports and a team of approximately 40 indirect reports, including recruitment, training, motivation, and development.
  4. Representing the department internally and externally at meetings with boards, committees, and investors.
  5. Overseeing all aspects of operations including:
  • Accounting, NAV pricing, and financial statements across various asset-holding vehicles and fund structures.
  • Taxation matters including VAT, Corporation Tax, Capital Gains Tax, and others.
  • External reporting to clients, lenders, depositaries, and regulators.
  • Internal management reporting and performance measurement.
  • Managing relationships with key suppliers and monitoring compliance with investment restrictions.
  • Handling fund administration tasks and change projects like fund launches and terminations.

Additional responsibilities involve:

  1. Participating as a member of the Property Business Management Team, monitoring functions like Real Estate Investment, Asset Management, and Property Oversight.
  2. Identifying and reviewing risks, implementing controls, and managing conflicts of interest.

Qualifications and experience required:

  • Post-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
  • Experience with UK Real Estate and Infrastructure funds.
  • Senior management experience in Financial Services.
  • Experience across multiple jurisdictions including UK, Jersey, and Luxembourg.
  • Excellent communication skills with clients and colleagues at all levels.
  • Proven ability to manage and motivate teams, drive operational efficiencies, and handle complex issues.
  • Client-focused, forward-thinking, well-planned, self-starting, and deadline-oriented.

Working relationships include internal teams like front office investment and group departments, and external entities such as banks, investors, legal professionals, and auditors.
