Job summary

Harris Academy Wickford is looking for a qualified Head of RE to lead, manage and develop the department within a high-performing academy. You will drive student attainment, monitor progress and ensure a broad, differentiated curriculum across the age range.

The role requires QTS (or equivalent), a relevant undergraduate degree, and experience in change management and driving achievement. A competitive rewards package includes development opportunities and a comprehensive benefits programme.

Qualifications

• Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree, and, ideally, management training.
• Demonstrate successful teaching of GCSE at good or better level.
• Have experience of initiation and effective management of change.
• Show evidence of raising achievement in present post and showing good value added for groups.
• Have knowledge of current curriculum developments in subject and their implications.
• Have good knowledge and understanding of current educational thinking.
• Show good understanding of how children learn and how to raise standards of achievement.
• Have good communication skills in speech and writing.
• Display excellent organisational skills.
• Are able to build and sustain professional standards and relationships with students.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and develop the RE department.
• Raise standards of attainment within the department and monitor student progress.
• Ensure a broad, balanced, differentiated curriculum aligned to academy policies.
• Teach RE across the age/ability range.
• Provide a learning experience to enable students to realise their potential.
• Manage staff, finances and resources within the department.
• Support personal and academic growth opportunities for students.
