Role: Head of Quality and Governance


Location: Leeds (LS15) Bardon (LE67) , Perivale (UB6) - Hybrid


Salary: £ 60,000 -£70,000 OTD per annum plus extensive benefits


Contract type: Maternity cover .


Employment type: Full time


Working hours: Monday - Friday 37.5 hours, with core hours operating from 9.30am-4pm

Reporting to the Deputy Superintendent Pharmacist (DSP), and working alongside the Head of Safety and Standards, this role will provide leadership to the organisation on all aspects of quality and governance relating to pharmacy regulatory and legal requirements, across all Pharmacy2U's services.

What you'll be doing?


Key duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the business to operate legally and safely at all times
  • Ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, contracts and guidelines
  • Advise the SP and DSP and other colleagues on strategic policy developments relating to professional and pharmacy matters, regulatory issues including potential legislative reform, medicines legislation, safety issues and related policy issues arising across the wider health system and environment
  • Ensure that P2U policies are based on evidence and a careful consideration of all relevant factors including legislation and industry best practice
  • Ensure systems and processes are audited and improvement plans are made where necessary to ensure safety and compliance; including involvement in national audits and PQS audits
  • Ensure all aspects of our services are risk assessed, and these are updated at relevant intervals and in the event of a critical event
  • Ensure the business has robust and up to date SOPs in place, with reviews at relevant intervals and in the event of a critical event
  • Ensure compliance with safe custody and other requirements relating to controlled drugs, and the safe storage, procurement, and handling of all medicines
  • Assist the SP and DSP with our responses to relevant external consultations
  • Producing and analysing reports and KPIs to continuously improve the quality and governance of the business
  • With the whole team, ensure P2U is "always inspection ready"
  • Deputise for the Head of Safety and Standards and other members of the team when necessary


Managerial Responsibilities

  • Line management of the QSM role, and members of the PSP team
  • Actively participate as a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT)
  • Be responsible, as part of the SLT, for the definition, delivery and implementation of business strategies that support organisational objectives (OKRs)
  • Take responsibility for compliance with, and implementation of, best practice in your functional areas and oversee quality assurance initiatives
  • Mentor, develop and build the capability of your team
  • Lead an organisational culture that supports high performance, employee engagement and organisational effectiveness
  • Promote the mission, vision and values of P2U
  • Build, manage and maintain productive and positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders


General

  • Share knowledge and learning with your team and wider organisation
  • Provide support to organisational projects, working groups, committees, etc
  • Promote and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, transformation, and innovation within P2U
  • Proactively engage in performance development reviews and actively engaging in opportunities for learning and development


Who are we looking for?

  • A GPhC-registered pharmacist with a minimum of five years' post-registration experience, including at least one year within a Professional Standards or Superintendent Pharmacist team
  • A confident leader with proven experience in line management and mentoring of pharmacy professionals, able to influence both senior stakeholders and frontline teams
  • In-depth knowledge of pharmacy legislation, NHS regulatory requirements, and governance best practices, including familiarity with GPhC inspection criteria and controlled drug legislation
  • Skilled in policy development, incident investigation, SOP writing, and regulatory response, with a strong grasp of quality improvement methodologies
  • Highly analytical with excellent problem-solving skills, capable of interpreting complex regulatory frameworks and applying them effectively in practice
  • Demonstrated ability to manage risk, lead audits, and utilise governance tools such as root cause analysis and risk assessments
  • Calm and composed under pressure, with the ability to manage competing priorities and consistently deliver high-quality work to tight deadlines
  • Passionate about patient safety, professional excellence, and continuous improvement, with a commitment to upholding the values of Pharmacy2U in all interactions
