Reporting to the Operations Director, you will lead the Quality function with responsibility for compliance of quality standards for both product and process. This is a Senior Leadership role with budgetary responsibility.
Responsibilities:
- Set clear goals for all team members and hold Quality Managers to account for performance in their respective areas
- Lead and develop the Quality Management system, Provide assurance that the management system processes approved for use are implemented, effectively deployed, regularly reviewed and utilised in support of business stream delivery and supporting activities.
- Ensure Quality Management System is sufficiently robust to maintain compliance with the relevant regulatory standards and legal requirements, internal and supplier audits are completed to schedule, calibration & metrology standards are maintained
- Ensure quality strategies and processes are in place to meet business objectives and operational needs in terms of price, quality and delivery targets
- Ensure effective deployment of the Quality System to support corrective and preventative activities using appropriate Non Conformance Reporting tools
- Deploy quality teams and processes across the business and ensure their integration within project teams
- Ensure industry standard quality planning tools are prepared and managed appropriately within all Quality Assurance teams
- Contribute to overall business strategy and support deployment through the functions
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance
- Monitor and report Key Performance Indicators across all areas of the business to ensure that all projects are delivered to cost and time to the highest quality standards, implement predictive performance measures within the programmes
- Form part of programme senior management team and collaborate with other senior managers to deliver a successful programmes
- Identify opportunities to reduce risk or improve project & business performance
- Contribute in customer milestone reviews and key working groups to deliver successful outcomes. Manage, support, negotiate with, and appropriately challenge the customer to ensure the successful achievement of project milestones
- Strive for best in class products and business practices to exceed the customer’s expectations
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE
- Has experience in Quality Management and leading multi-functional teams
- Has experience in managing senior stakeholders within the UK defence environment and particularly across Army and DE&S
- Is degree qualified in a relevant discipline or has equivalent experience.
- Have extensive knowledge of defence industry or other highly regulated industry
- Conversant with ISO 9001/ EN9100 standards
- Has experience in working with international partners and suppliers
- Has experience in quality assurance and quality conformance principles and application
- Has ability to work and influence cross-functionally
- Has knowledge and experience using SAP (highly desirable)
- Excellent Communication, interpersonal, influencing skills and analytical/problem solving abilities
- Is results orientated with the ability to plan and deliver against project & business deadlines
