Head of Property Management

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established property management company in North London, specialising in the management of private and council-owned residential properties. This is a pivotal senior-level role, ideal for someone with a strong background in residential property management, particularly in the public housing or social housing sector, and with a proven ability to lead and mentor a team.

As Head of Property Management, you will take ownership of a busy department overseeing a significant portfolio of council and local authority housing stock. You will manage a small, dedicated team while ensuring the highest standards of compliance, service delivery, and operational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, manage, and mentor a team of Property Managers
  • Oversee the day-to-day management of council-owned and social housing properties
  • Ensure full compliance with housing legislation, health and safety standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Liaise with local councils, housing officers, landlords, tenants, and contractors
  • Act as the point of escalation for tenancy disputes or maintenance issues
  • Monitor KPIs and service delivery, implementing improvements as needed
  • Lead team meetings, performance reviews, and support staff development
  • Streamline internal processes to increase efficiency and service quality
  • Provide regular reports to senior leadership on operational performance
What We’re Looking For
  • ARLA qualified – desirable
  • Solid experience in residential property management, particularly in local authority, housing association, or social housing settings
  • Strong leadership, people management, and team development skills
  • In-depth knowledge of housing legislation, tenancy law (ASTs), and compliance
  • Exceptional communication and conflict resolution abilities
  • Highly organised and comfortable working under pressure
  • Full UK driving licence (own car preferred)
