Owen Reed is looking to recruit the Head of Property Litigation to lead and develop the Property Litigation department for a top law firm in London.

This is a senior leadership role, ideal for a qualified solicitor with proven management experience, exceptional technical skills, and the ability to inspire and grow a high-performing team.

The Role

As Head of Property Litigation, you will be responsible for driving the strategic direction of the department, delivering outstanding client service, and ensuring operational excellence. You will play a key role in developing people, processes, and performance to meet the firm’s business objectives.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Developing, implementing, and reviewing the department’s strategy in line with company objectives.

  • Formulating, agreeing, and delivering annual department budgets.

  • Networking internally to build contacts and generate cross-referrals.

  • Managing recovery of cash and aged debtors.

  • Maintaining and reviewing monthly KPIs and performance reporting.

  • Leading successful department audits.

  • Ensuring delivery of market-leading client service in line with company policies and procedures.

  • Overseeing training, development, and succession planning to maintain technical competence within the team.

  • Identifying, managing, and mitigating departmental risks.

  • Continuously improving systems and processes to increase efficiency, enhance client experience, and reduce risk.

  • Assisting with recruitment and onboarding of new team members.

  • Collaborating with HR on training, performance, and probation reviews.

  • Providing operational and technical support to the department where required.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a commercially astute leader with excellent interpersonal skills, a proven track record in litigation, and the ability to inspire confidence at all levels.
