About the role

Our client is a next-generation live entertainment company rooted in African culture and global storytelling. They produce culturally defining events, including a flagship music festival showcasing African and urban music genres such as Afrobeats, Amapiano, R&B, Hip Hop, and more. The festival unites the African diaspora and celebrates diversity through music, food, fashion, and art, attracting a large European audience annually.

The company is expanding and seeks a Head of Promotions to drive strategic and financial success across their event portfolio, ensuring profitability, cultural relevance, and demand.

Role responsibilities

The Head of Promotions will oversee a diverse portfolio of ticketed events, leading a team of promoters to drive revenue, audience growth, and brand positioning. This strategic, commercially focused leadership role requires expertise in event curation, ticketing, pricing, sponsorship, and multi-market expansion.

Experience required
  • 10+ years in live event promotions, talent booking, or ticketing strategy, with a successful track record of scaling events profitably.
  • Experience managing multi-city or international event portfolios.
  • Proven ability to lead data-driven ticketing and pricing strategies.
  • Strong industry relationships with talent agencies, ticketing platforms, and brand partners.
  • Leadership experience managing high-performing teams across locations.
  • Financial acumen including P&L management, sales forecasting, and revenue optimization.
  • Experience with major promotion companies (e.g., Live Nation, AEG) or leading independents.
  • Understanding of sponsorship integration and brand activations.
  • Experience expanding event brands into new markets or launching festivals.
  • Knowledge of global music trends and audience behaviors.

Key responsibilities

Ticketing & Pricing Strategy

  • Collaborate with ticketing partners to optimise sales channels.
  • Use sales data and trends to adjust pricing and promotional strategies.
Commercial & Sponsorship
  • Work with brand partners to integrate sponsorships into events.
  • Secure long-term commercial partnerships.
  • Develop marketing strategies aligned with ticketing and sponsorship goals.
Leadership & Industry Presence
  • Represent the company at industry events and panels.
  • Maintain understanding of music trends and market positioning.
  • Balance strategic vision with daily operations.
  • Use analytics to optimise sales and pricing.
  • Negotiate with talent, venues, and sponsors.
  • Plan for market expansion and scaling.
  • Manage risks and navigate challenges.
