Job description

Job Title: Head of Project Management – Site and Facilities

Location: Barrow-in-Furness. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role

Salary: £95,000 plus depending on skills and experience plus executive benefits

What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead the Project Management & Controls function for site and facilities strategy, with a primary focus on monitoring progress, analysing performance data, and identifying areas for improvement
  • Produce high-quality reports and insights to support senior leadership decision-making, highlighting risks, progress against plan, and recommendations for corrective actions where needed
  • Manage and develop a team of professional and managerial staff, ensuring effective delivery, performance, and professional growth
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the accurate flow of information and alignment of facilities programmes with wider business goals
  • Apply expert knowledge of project controls, reporting tools, and governance frameworks to drive robust and consistent performance tracking
  • Act as a key contributor to senior-level reporting and strategic reviews, supporting risk mitigation and programme assurance across the site infrastructure portfolio

Your skills and experiences:

  • Strong experience in leading complex projects or programmes, preferably related to infrastructure, site operations, or facilities strategy
  • Proven ability to monitor project performance, analyse progress data, and produce insightful reports to inform decision-making
  • Broad understanding of project governance, assurance, and risk management practices
  • Experience of managing and developing teams, with a focus on performance, collaboration, and delivery excellence
  • An ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders across different business areas and seniority levels
  • Skilled in building effective working relationships with internal teams, senior leadership, and external partners

The Project Controls team:

By joining us in the role and team, you will be closely involved in the ongoing transformation of the Barrow shipyard, which is undergoing a significant modernisation programme as part of the UK’s future submarine build strategy. This includes major infrastructure upgrades to support increased production capacity and advanced technologies. You will lead a team supporting the delivery of large, high-value and strategically important programmes focused on site infrastructure and facilities planning. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
