The Head of PMO will be responsible for establishing and leading the Project ManagementOffice, ensuring governance, consistency, and efficiency in project execution across theorganisation. This role will provide strategic oversight for project portfolio management,resource allocation, risk mitigation, and performance tracking while embedding best practicesand continuous improvement in project management methodologies.As a key enabler of transformation initiatives, the role will support the Head of Transformationin aligning project execution with business objectives, optimising project delivery, andenhancing overall organisational agility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and enforce project management standards, frameworks, and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Establish templates, reporting structures, and approval processes for consistency.
  • Prioritise projects based on strategic alignment, resources, and ROI.
  • Ensure project dependencies, risks, and benefits are effectively managed.
  • Provide visibility into the entire portfolio of projects across the organisation.
  • Allocate project resources, ensuring teams are adequately staffed.
  • Monitor budget usage, costs, and financial performance of projects.
  • Work with HR and leadership to forecast resource needs.
  • Identify, track, and mitigate risks that impact project delivery.
  • Implement escalation processes to resolve roadblocks efficiently.
  • Ensure contingency planning for high-impact risks.
  • Track KPIs, project milestones, and delivery timelines.
  • Provide executive-level reporting to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Support project managers and teams with guidance and training.
  • Drive continuous improvement in project management methodologies.
  • Act as a centre of excellence for Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid methodologies.

Key Skills, experience and Competencies

  • Extensive experience in leading a PMO or project management function in a complex,fast-paced environment.
  • Strong knowledge of project portfolio management, governance frameworks, and risk management.
  • Proven ability to implement and enforce project management best practices.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Experience in Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid project management methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills, with expertise in project tracking tools and dashboards.
  • Ability to develop and nurture project management capability within an organisation.

Qualifications (if required ):

  • Degree in Business, Project Management, or a related field (desirable).
  • PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile certifications (desirable).
  • Significant experience in leading a PMO function in a global organisation.
