Head of Programme Management (energy/utilities)
Central London | c.£120–140k + package
Hybrid (3 days office) | Build the PMO from the ground up
You know how it feels to be brought in too late. What if this time you were there from the start?
What if you could design the PMO, choose the tools, shape the team, and actually set the standard for how delivery runs in a growing infrastructure business?
Sound appealing? Then pull up a seat - this one could be interesting.
The Why
Our client is scaling fast, developing a portfolio of energy infrastructure that will serve communities for decades to come.
To support this growth, they’re establishing a new Programme Management Office (PMO) that will bring greater visibility, structure and governance to project delivery across the business.
This is a newly created role with a wide brief and strong executive sponsorship.
This is not a BAU job.
You’re not inheriting a ready-made playbook. You’re here to shape it, and lead it.
You’ll work closely with the COO and the executive team to:
Design and implement the governance model, gateway processes, tooling and reporting rhythms
Build and lead a PMO team (c.5 people) across programme and project functions
Act as the interface with external delivery and design partners
Oversee governance across a wide range of projects (O&M, lifecycle, and network expansion)
Provide clarity and confidence to senior stakeholders (councils, investors, delivery partners)
Ensure the business is ready for a step-change in project volume from 2026 onward
You’ll suit this if:
You’ve built or significantly matured a PMO in a capex-intensive, operational setting; infrastructure, energy, engineering, FM, rail, water, etc
You’re comfortable managing people, systems and process - and influencing at senior levels
You’re looking for autonomy and the chance to shape something meaningful
What you’ll get:
The freedom to build the PMO your way
A platform for real visibility and senior influence
The opportunity to help shape a fast-growing infrastructure business at a pivotal moment
