DeepL, a global AI company, is hiring an Engineering Manager for the Production Inference team. You will lead researchers and ML engineers responsible for scalable, reliable language AI model serving at scale.

This role combines people leadership with technical direction, focusing on architecture reviews, roadmap, and collaboration with cross-functional teams, while maintaining high standards of rigour and delivery. Hybrid work and strong benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading a team of researchers or ML engineers with delivery discipline.
• Strong background in production ML systems, inference optimization, or model serving at scale.
• Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to operate across the full model lifecycle from training handoff to production deployment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high-performing team of researchers and ML engineers.
• Own the team's research and development roadmap for production inference systems.
• Act as the primary technical interface between the Production Inference team and adjacent functions.
• Drive reliability, efficiency, and cost performance of the model serving stack.
• Operate with autonomy and push for results amidst evolving requirements.
• Identify, assess, and recruit talent as the team grows.
