Job summary

Consult is seeking a Head of Procurement in the UK to lead strategic procurement across a diverse public-sector portfolio. You will shape the group’s commercial strategy, oversee major contracts, and ensure compliance with national procurement laws and regulations.

The role blends entrepreneurial leadership with public value. The ideal candidate brings extensive public sector procurement experience, strong negotiation skills, and a strategic mindset; MCIPS or working towards it is highly valued.

Qualifications

Proven experience leading procurement in the public sector or other complex, regulated environments (e.g. social housing).
Expert knowledge of public procurement law, ideally with Procurement Act 2023 Practitioner Level certification.
Commercial acumen, excellent negotiation skills, and a strategic mindset.
MCIPS (or working towards it) is a plus.

Responsibilities

Shape, refine, and continuously improve the group’s procurement strategy and commercial capability.
Ensure compliance with the Procurement Act 2023 and Public Contracts Regulations 2015.
Lead high‑value procurement projects while embedding top-tier supplier and contract management frameworks.
Build, coach, and inspire a high‑performing procurement team.
