Job summary

hireful is seeking a Head of Procurement to lead the commercial strategy for a public-sector focused group based in Hounslow. The role blends entrepreneurial freedom with public value, shaping procurement at scale and guiding a high-performing team.

You will navigate procurement law, drive supplier excellence, and deliver complex projects while building capability across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading procurement in public sectors or regulated environments.
• Knowledge of public procurement law with Practitioner Level certification.
• Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and strategic mindset.
• MCIPS status or actively working toward it.

Responsibilities

• Shape, refine, and continuously improve the group’s procurement strategy and commercial capability.
• Ensure compliance with the Procurement Act 2023 and Public Contracts Regulations 2015.
• Lead complex, high-value procurement projects with strong supplier and contract management.
• Build, coach, and inspire a high-performing procurement team.

We are looking for a stand-out Head of Procurement to take the reins at a fantastic, forward-thinking organisation, making a real difference across local communities.

You will be heading up commercial strategy for an ambitious group, that handles everything from leisure centres and housing development to recycling and green spaces.

It's a "social heart with a commercial head" setup, giving you the perfect blend of entrepreneurial freedom and public value.

Salary up to £95,000 depending on your level of experience. This hybrid role is based in Hounslow, Middlesex- easily commutable from London, Slough, Windsor, Woking, Harrow, Watford, etc.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Shape, refine, and continuously improve the group’s procurement strategy and commercial capability.
• Keep things running smoothly under the Procurement Act 2023 and Public Contracts Regulations 2015.
• Lead complex, high-value procurement projects while embedding top-tier supplier and contract management frameworks.
• Build, coach, and inspire a high-performing procurement team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.

What We’re Looking For:

• Proven experience leading procurement in the public sector or other complex, regulated environment (e.g social housing)
• Expert knowledge of public procurement law, ideally with Procurement Act 2023 Practitioner Level certification.
• Commercial acumen, fantastic negotiation skills, and a strategic mindset.
• MCIPS (or working towards it) is a massive plus!
