Job summary

Taylor Wimpey plc is seeking a senior procurement professional to manage designated categories and deliver a strategic procurement service UK-wide. You will work closely with the Procurement Director to support governance, cost optimisation and compliance across multiple business units.

The role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking and a track record in delivering value through procurement in house building or related sectors.

Qualifications

• Commercial procurement experience within House Building, Construction or Manufacturing sectors.
• Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience leading and developing teams.
• Excellent category management skills.
• IT literacy including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a highly professional, strategic procurement service for assigned categories.
• Provide expert advice to senior management to ensure best value and compliance.
• Develop and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, driving innovation.
• Initiate and lead strategic procurement projects.
• Support procurement director in R&D initiatives.
• Assess long-term procurement risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Provide regular reports on procurement matters to the Director.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of procurement legislation and best practice.
• Support health, safety and customer service objectives through procurement.

Job Summary

To be responsible for managing specific categories to deliver a highly professional and strategic Procurement service at Taylor Wimpey UK Limited for a number of Group managed categories. Working closely with, and supporting, the Procurement Director in delivering the Procurement and wider supply chain objectives, which include governance and functional support to the commercial teams.

Primary Responsibilities

Procurement

• Responsible for ensuring that the Category Procurement team delivers a highly professional, commercial and strategic service, having overall accountability for the success of those categories
• Responsible for ensuring that the Category team provides expert advice to the senior management teams, to guarentee that Taylor Wimpey is achieving best value through all of its procurement activities and is complying with relevant laws and regulations
• Managing and developing relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, driving continual innovation and quality improvement throughout Procurement
• To initiate and lead strategic Procurement projects
• Working with the Procurement and Supply Chain Director to support research and development initiatives
• To assess both strategic and long term risks in Procurement and implement appropriate mitigation strategies as and when required
• To support the Procurement Director in working closely with suppliers and Regional Business Units to recognise and deliver year on year business benefits
• To provide regular reports to the Procurement Director as requested on Procurement matters for their categories
• Maintain a comprehensive and up to date knowledge of all relevant legislation, procedures and best practise for Procurement
• To support Taylor Wimpey’s Health and Safety and Customer Service objectives through the procurement process Management

Process Management

• To manage Category Managers as required by the Procurement Director, to ensure that they build long-term relationships and seek innovative and cost effective solutions to meet the required targets and objectives
• To support in the recruitment, induction, motivation and monitoring of the Category Procurement team, encouragingsuccession planning and people development

Experience, Qualifications, Technical Requirements

• Possess commercial procurement experience within the House Building, Construction or Manufacturing sector.
• Possess highly developed negotiation skills
• Demonstrable stakeholder management skills
• Experienced in leading and managing teams
• Excellent category management skills
• IT literacy inc MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint
