Head of Procurement – Circa £100K Package
Our client is a leading HVAC / electronics distribution organisation with a fantastic workplace environment. Due to significant business growth, they are now looking to recruit an experienced Head of Procurement based broadly in the Milton Keynes / Northampton / Cambridge / Luton areas.
You will be responsible for leading the end-to-end procurement function, ensuring robust supplier relationships, managing a small procurement team, cost efficiency strategies, stock availability, and strategic alignment with the company’s growth plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the company’s procurement strategy aligned with business goals and market demands.
- Lead, develop and mentor a high-performing procurement team across multiple sites and assess the potential of a category management approach and practice.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key global manufacturers, OEMs, and logistics partners.
- Manage the sourcing of technical products across key categories and collaborate with operations and sales to ensure optimal stock levels and availability
- Work with the business to establish drop ship supplier models to increase fulfilment efficiency and reduce stock-holding costs.
- Work towards the replacement of manual procurement processes with digitisation to increase efficiencies.
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of procurement experience ideally across related industries such as parts/components supply, automotive, manufacturing, electronics, building services, technical wholesale or HVAC.
- A proven track record in strategic sourcing, category management, and supplier negotiation.
- Experience leading / participating in procurement digitisation initiatives (removal of manual processes) and experience establishing drop ship supplier relationships.
- Familiarity with global sourcing from Europe and Asia, import processes, and international supplier engagement.
- Strong analytical ability and experience using ERP systems (SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, etc.) and works effectively with sales, operations, finance and technical teams to balance commercial and customer priorities.
- Desirable - A degree in supply chain management, engineering, business, or a related discipline and professional certifications such as CIPS, ISM, CPSM or equivalent
