Key responsibilities:
Drive the creation and delivery of a comprehensive Procurement and Supply Chain strategy, ensuring full compliance and operational effectiveness throughout the procurement and contract management lifecycle.
Provide strategic direction and leadership to Supply Chain Managers and their teams, fostering continuous development through mentoring and skills enhancement.
Oversee the evaluation and approval of preferred suppliers and approved vendors to ensure a robust and high-performing supply chain.
Establish and manage a proactive risk and opportunity framework to strengthen supply chain resilience and support business continuity.
Lead the negotiation and governance of long-term strategic and commercial supplier agreements. Work closely with the Commercial team to develop procurement frameworks, secure capacity, and enable efficient routes to market.
Own and manage the make-or-buy decision process, regularly evaluating internal capabilities against market alternatives. Undertake cost-benefit analyses to guide outsourcing strategies and maximise business value.
Key Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
Leadership positions working in a Project Engineering
environment (>15 years relevant experience)
Demonstrable experience of establishing and
implementing strategic procurement policies and
procedures
Significant experience of establishing and managing
long term strategic level agreements and frameworks
with varied supply chains for multi-million/year spend ?
Experience in assuring corporate compliance to
relevant regulation and legislation in the procurement
environment and
engineering/manufacturing/construction industries
Successful experience of transformational change,
leading and growing teams and managing a strategic
procurement function including development of new
systems, recruitment of resources and establishment
of appropriate working practices
Possess a thorough understanding & working
knowledge of terms and conditions of contract
including applied use of NEC
Substantial experience of operating in senior roles
within highly regulated
engineering/construction/manufacturing industries,
ideally Nuclear or Defence
