Job summary

Middlesbrough Council’s Public Protection Service seeks a motivated manager to lead housing standards enforcement in Middlesbrough. You will drive licensing, assess housing standards, and investigate breaches under housing legislation.

You will head a team of Environmental Health Officers and Regulatory Compliance Officers, working with senior officers to deliver wider Public Protection tasks. A strong background in social or private sector housing and leadership is essential.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of housing standards and legislation, including Renters’ Rights Act.
• Experience in management and leadership in housing/public protection.
• Strong regulatory compliance and enforcement capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of licensing functions and monitor compliance with housing and landlord laws.
• Conduct housing standards assessments and investigate breaches and offences.
• Apply sanctions for non-compliance and manage a team of Environmental Health Officers.
• Collaborate with Principal Officers and service managers to deliver wider Public Protection functions.
