Job summary

Stonehouse Recruitment is seeking an experienced Private Sector Housing Manager for a local authority in the West Midlands. You will lead a housing standards and enforcement service, directing a team to improve housing conditions, tackle non-compliant landlords and bring empty properties back into use.

You will oversee HHSRS assessments, HMO inspections, enforcement actions and prosecutions in collaboration with Legal Services, ensuring compliance and safety across council housing stock.

Qualifications

• Experience in Private Sector Housing within a Local Authority or similar.
• Knowledge of the Housing Act 2004, HHSRS and related housing legislation.
• Experience conducting property inspections and HMO enforcement.
• Knowledge of statutory notices, compliance and enforcement procedures.
• Experience managing complex cases and leading or supporting a team.
• Strong communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use.

The successful candidate will oversee a team responsible for improving housing conditions, tackling non-compliant landlords, bringing empty properties back into use and ensuring accommodation meets relevant legal and safety standards.
