Location: St Albans (Hybrid)
Salary: £80,000 – £100,000 (DOE)
An established and highly respected law firm in Hertfordshire is seeking a Head of Private Client to lead and grow a newly formed Private Client department. This is a rare opportunity for an experienced solicitor to shape and develop a key area within a firm that combines a long-standing local presence with the support and infrastructure of a wider national network.

The Opportunity:As Head of Private Client, you will play a central role in establishing and leading a new team. You’ll have autonomy to shape the department, manage your own caseload, and contribute to the firm’s long-term vision. This leadership role comes with genuine scope for progression and influence.
Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and grow the Private Client team, offering mentorship and direction
• Manage a full range of Private Client matters, including Wills, Trusts, Probate, LPAs, and Court of Protection
• Deliver high-quality service from instruction to completion
• Support and supervise junior team members and legal support staff
• Develop client relationships and expand the department’s profile
• Take an active role in the future strategy and success of the department

What We’re Looking For:The ideal Head of Private Client will bring:

• STEP qualification (or working towards it)
• At least 10 years’ PQE in Private Client law
• Experience handling complex matters across Wills, Probate, and Estate Administration
• Strong leadership qualities and a passion for team-building
• The ability to work independently while collaborating across departments
• Excellent communication and client-care skills
