Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust and Isle of Wight NHS Trust seek a forward-thinking Head of Practice Education to lead the Learning, Education and Development team on a 6-month secondment. You will drive education strategy, professional development and career progression across multi-site services, ensuring high-quality learning experiences that improve patient care and staff retention.

Qualifications

• Substantial senior-level experience in practice education, clinical education or workforce development within a complex healthcare environment.
• Leadership of multidisciplinary education teams including performance management, staff development and service improvement.
• Experience developing and implementing education strategy aligned with workforce priorities.
• Experience assuring quality of learning environments, placements, supervision and assessment.
• Experience partnering with HEIs, FE providers, clinical services and external bodies.
• Experience using data, audits and learner feedback to monitor performance and manage risk.
• Experience managing delegated resources or budgets and delivering value for money.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for practice education across the organisation.
• Lead and manage Practice Education teams with visible leadership and performance management.
• Design and deliver education, training, apprenticeships, preceptorship and career pathways.
• Ensure high-quality clinical placements across non-medical professions with HE/FE partners.
• Develop learning environments that promote excellence in education and learner experience.
• Support recruitment, retention and workforce transformation initiatives.
• Offer expert educational advice to Education Team and stakeholders.
• Lead development and evaluation of education programmes aligned to priorities.
• Monitor education quality using data and feedback for continuous improvement.
• Champion evidence-based practice, innovation and QA activities.
• Produce reports on educational performance and workforce development initiatives.
• Foster collaboration with clinical services, education providers and external partners.
• Lead investigations into complaints and incidents related to education.
