NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
We are looking for a talented and experienced leader to join our Corporate Planning Team in a new role as Head of Planning and Improvement. We welcome individuals from diverse backgrounds with a proven track record in leading planning/strategy work whether from the public sector or consultancy background. Healthcare/NHS experience is essential. You might already be in a senior operational / managerial /planning role and ready to step into a more strategic position.
The post holder has a central leadership role in the strategic and operational planning and improvement across NHSGGC supporting the organisation to deliver the Board’s Corporate objectives, and the three year transformation plan aligned to Health & Social Care Reform.
Leading a team of Planning & Improvement Managers, this role will be responsible for the delivery of key planning and improvement programmes across our acute services alongside your own specific acute care portfolio.
You will lead the implementation of service reviews to support sustainability, and lead the governance, monitoring and internal process for NHSGGC’s designated National and Regional Services.
You will provide senior corporate planning expertise to key elements of the Boards GGC Way Forward and broader Transformation Programme ‘Transforming Together supporting the new Interface Division.
The post-holder will be required to work autonomously in the role. Highly developed interpersonal skills are a key requirement as the post-holder will be expected to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with Executives, clinicians and other senior managers and teams, and engage effectively across NHSGGC and wider system partners.
You must have proven experience and a strong demonstrable track record of success in leading planning and or change programmes in a large/complex organisation.
