Job summary

Carrington West is seeking a Head of Planning for a leading Local Authority. This role offers hybrid working, £107 per hour (DOE), and a 5-month initial contract.

It focuses on strategic leadership across Development Management, Planning Policy and wider planning functions to support economic development and regeneration goals. You will lead and shape a high-performing planning service, manage teams and budgets, advise Members and senior stakeholders, and oversee statutory responsibilities and

Qualifications

• Significant Local Authority planning experience at a senior management level.
• Strong knowledge of Development Management, Planning Policy and planning legislation.
• Proven experience leading and developing professional planning teams.
• Experience managing complex planning applications and strategic development projects.
• Strong communication skills with experience advising Members and senior stakeholders.
• Ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy and professional judgement.
