Engage Education is supporting a high-achieving secondary school in Tower Hamlets, graded ‘Outstanding’ by OFSTED, to recruit a Head of Physics for a maternity cover running from September to December 2025.

This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a leadership position within a thriving and well-supported Science department. You’ll lead the planning and delivery of the Physics curriculum across KS3 to KS5, support a team of specialist teachers, and help maintain the school’s excellent standards of teaching and progress.

The ideal candidate will:

• Hold QTS with a specialism in Physics

• Have experience teaching Physics at KS3–KS5, including A-Level

• Have previous leadership experience or be ready to step into a middle leadership role

• Be confident in curriculum planning, staff support, and driving department outcomes

• Be committed to fostering a culture of high expectations and academic success

Contract: Full-time maternity cover (Sept–Dec 2025)
Salary: Paid to scale (Outer London MPS/UPS + TLR, depending on experience)
