Job summary

You will lead curriculum design, oversee resource planning, and line-manage PE staff while coordinating with other school teams to raise student achievement. A second subject in Maths or Science is desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience leading PE curriculum development and delivery.
• Strong skills in moderation and standardisation of coursework across PE qualifications.
• Proven ability to manage department resources, timetabling and budgets.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the PE curriculum enables all students to achieve their best.
• Secure and sustain high quality teaching, learning and assessment in PE.
• Lead moderation and standardisation of coursework across PE qualifications.
• Organise effective grouping of students and allocation of classes.
• Plan practical curriculum courses making best use of facilities.
• Routinely undertake self-evaluation and inform improvement planning.
• Ensure schemes of work and resources are high quality and accessible.
• Maintain robust data analysis to address underachievement.
• Use department meetings effectively to drive improvement.
• Support professional development of department staff and trainee teachers.
• Line manage department staff and coordinate with staff, students and parents on behaviour and achievement.
• Promote PE and maintain a high profile for the department.
