Do you have the vision, drive, and passion to lead a high-performing PE department? Are you a Head of Physical Education (and/or aspiring leader) who lives and breathes sport, physical activity and wellbeing?

Tradewind are working in partnership with a secondary school in Aylesbury, searching for a charismatic, energetic and engaging Head of Physical Education to lead and inspire their Physical Education team!

This is more than just a PE role - it's a leadership role in a school that believes sport shapes lives. Whether it's coaching the next county-level sprinter, leading inter-house competitions, or driving inclusivity through sport, you'll be at the heart of the school community ethos!

Role:

  • Lead and manage a dedicated PE department delivering engaging lessons across KS3-KS5

  • Inspire students through positive modelling of physical activity, health and sport

  • Organise, develop and manage the extra-curricular sporting schedule

  • Develop the PE curriculum to sustain and increase participation and performance

  • Collaborate with senior leaders to promote physical wellbeing as part of the wider school ethos

  • Be a positive sporting role model to staff and students alike

What makes a great Head of PE

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a background in Physical Education or Sport Science

  • Previous experience in a leadership role or an ambitious PE teacher ready to step into Head of Department role

  • A commitment to high performance, inclusivity, and sporting values

  • Outstanding organisational, leadership and communication skills
