Job summary

Grace College are looking to recruit a Head of Department (Performing Arts) who will enthuse pupils to learn with energy and dedication. The role focuses on leading the performing arts curriculum, developing staff and enabling a vibrant co-curricular programme across music and drama.

You will work with the Director of Arts and Events to ensure exceptional whole-school events and strong progression of learning.

Qualifications

• Leadership experience in school Performing Arts department
• Strong ability to drive progress with data and assessment results
• Expertise in designing and sequencing curriculum across key stages
• Experience in developing co-curricular programmes and partnerships

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the music and drama curriculum with clear progression for all key stages.
• Develop high-quality co-curricular ensembles: orchestra, choir, drama clubs, college productions.
• Oversee quality assurance of teaching and collaboratively plan improvements.
• Build links with local arts organisations to enrich learning and cultural capital.
• Manage whole-school Arts events such as concerts, services and presentations.
• Support staff development and succession planning within the department.
