Job Description:

Head of Pensions Programme Management

Are you an experienced pensions professional with a passion for leading complex, high-impact programmes?

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with deep pensions knowledge and programme management expertise who’s ready to take on a strategic leadership role. It would suit someone who has led large-scale pension de-risking projects or managed multi-stakeholder pension schemes and is excited to shape the future of Aviva’s staff pension schemes.

A bit about the job:

This is a pivotal role within Aviva’s Trustee Executive Services team, responsible for overseeing a multi-year programme of pensions projects, including buy-in transactions, GMP equalisation, and the eventual wind-up of the staff pension schemes. You’ll work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including actuaries, legal advisers, investment teams, and regulators, to deliver outcomes that align with the Trustee’s strategic objectives. With oversight of projects totaling over £5 billion, your leadership will directly impact the financial security of scheme members and the success of the Trustee’s pension strategy.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Extensive experience in pensions programme management, ideally including large-scale de-risking or buy-in transactions
  • Proven ability to manage complex, multi-year projects with significant budgets (c.£30m)
  • Deep understanding of UK pensions regulation and best practices
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to drive innovation within the pensions programme, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing new strategies to meet the Trustee’s strategic objectives

What you’ll get for this role:

  • Starting salary circa £110,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
  • Bonus opportunity – 25% of annual salary. Actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s.
  • Generous pension scheme - Aviva will contribute up to 14%, depending on what you put in.
  • 29 days holiday plus bank holidays, with options to buy or sell up to 5 days
  • Make your money go further - Up to 40% discount on Aviva products, and other retailer discounts
  • Up to £1,200 of free Aviva shares per year through our Matching Share Plan and share in the success of Aviva with our Save As You Earn scheme
  • Supportive policies including parental and carer’s leave
  • Flexible benefits including sustainability options such as cycle to work
  • Make a difference, be part of our Aviva Communities, and use your 3 paid volunteering days to help others
  • We prioritize your wellbeing with support and tools
