Head of Payroll (Pension Administration)

We are seeking an experienced payroll leader to head our Payroll department within the Pension Administration function. As Head of Payroll (Pension Administration), you will oversee all payroll operations and pension disbursements, ensuring that pension benefits are processed accurately and on time. This role is pivotal for maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations and for delivering a high-quality payroll service to both Trustees and pensioners. It demands a mindset to optimize payroll processes and a detail-oriented approach to uphold strict financial controls and data integrity.

In this senior position, you will act as the organization’s subject matter expert on payroll and pension administration. You will collaborate cross-functionally, and liaise with external bodies to ensure best practices and legislative changes are integrated into our operations. The ideal candidate is a proven leader and innovator who can drive continuous improvements in efficiency, implement robust systems, and guide a dedicated payroll team to achieve operational excellence in support of the organization’s financial and compliance goals.

This role can be based in any of our city centre locations with a hybrid workstyle, however the ideal candidate would be based in, or near, Birmingham, Belfast or Croydon which is where our payroll teams are based.

What we’re looking for

  • Extensive experience in payroll administration, including managerial or leadership role overseeing payroll operations. Experience managing payroll in a pension administration context or a similarly complex benefits environment is highly desirable.
