Integrated Health Care Management Group (IHCM) in Hare Hatch, Reading, is seeking a Head of Payroll to lead our group-wide payroll function for 2,500 colleagues. This senior role focuses on accurate delivery, governance and system modernization, including ERP implementation and rostering integration.

You'll partner with Finance, HR and Operations, drive improvements, and develop a high-performing payroll team across multiple entities.

An exciting opportunity to lead and transform payroll across our Group

We're looking for an experienced Head of Payroll to lead our Group-wide payroll function, supporting a diverse portfolio of health and social care services.

This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for ensuring accurate, compliant and efficient payroll delivery across multiple entities and a workforce of over 2,500 colleagues.

Reporting directly to the CFO, you'll lead and develop our payroll team, strengthen governance and controls, and play a key role in modernising our payroll systems, including the implementation of a new ERP solution and integration with rostering and time and attendance systems.

What you'll be doing

• Leading the Group payroll function, setting clear standards, controls and service expectations.


• Managing and developing the Payroll team.


• Overseeing payroll compliance, pensions, statutory payments, holiday pay and National Minimum Wage requirements.


• Assisting with cost savings.


• Driving payroll system transformation, automation and process improvements.


• Partnering with closely with Finance, HR and Operations to identify cost-saving opportunities, including reducing agency expenditure and improving payroll efficiency.


• Providing strategic payroll advice to the CFO and senior leadership team.

What we're looking for

• Significant senior payroll experience within a large, multi-entity UK organisation.


• Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, compliance and financial controls.


• Experience leading payroll teams and delivering payroll system implementations or migrations.


• Confidence working with senior stakeholders and translating complex payroll information into practical business solutions.


• A hands-on, collaborative approach, with the ability to lead change while maintaining excellent day-to-day payroll delivery.

Experience within healthcare, social care or another 24/7, shift-based environment would be particularly valuable.
