Job Description:

Our client, a top 50 global banking brand is expanding its Exchange Traded Derivatives (ETD) London operations and is seeking an experienced professional to lead operational support functions across multiple markets. This Director level position is pivotal to driving efficiency, regulatory compliance, and project execution within a dynamic derivatives clearing environment.

In this newly created role you will be joining with a view to hire upto 5/6 staff a building the London function so experience in building / growing and leading a team is mandatory experience required.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will oversee day-to-day operations for a growing the ETD clearing function, ensuring smooth trade support, system integration, and alignment with internal and external regulatory frameworks. A major emphasis will be placed on physical contracts and Futures & Options (F&O) clearing. This leadership position includes managing key projects, client service delivery, margin oversight, regulatory interaction, and team development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily operations and trade support for the London ETD business activities (ICE / LME)
  • Lead the rollout of new systems and onboarding processes for emerging market access.
  • Liaise with exchanges, vendors, and internal stakeholders to drive strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure accurate trade lifecycle management, margining, and regulatory submissions.
  • Maintain and refine procedures, workflows, and documentation to support compliance.
  • Oversee BCP testing and contingency planning.
  • Manage service delivery to a diverse international client base, with a regional focus.
  • Ensure the integrity of operational and referential data.
  • Handle invoicing and reconciliation for post-trade give-up processes.
  • Collaborate with risk, IT, and finance teams to implement best-in-class operations.
  • Coach and develop team members, fostering a proactive and delivery-focused culture.
  • Once department setup complete role transitions to BAU and team growth / leadership.

Candidate Profile

  • At least 10 years of experience in clearing / F&O operations, ideally with strong exposure to settlement, trade support and clearing.
  • Deep understanding of clearing rules, especially within major commodity exchanges.
  • Demonstrated leadership in operational delivery and market onboarding initiatives.
  • Confident working hands-on while providing strategic oversight.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to influence across departments and functions.
  • Strong people management skills, with a record of developing talent and building cohesive teams.
  • Proactive, independent thinker with excellent problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience in ION XTP is nice to have.

Compensation

Salary negotiable upto £130,000 - £155,000.00 (MAX) plus package including discretionary yearly bonus (20% - 25%), strong pension, etc etc on top. Year 1 full comp is approx £200k OTE
