Ventro is seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Pre-Construction to oversee and manage the Purchasing Team, Operational Support Team, and Labour Recruitment Team. This leadership role is critical in ensuring the seamless coordination of pre-construction activities, optimising procurement processes, workforce planning, and operational support to drive efficiency and project readiness. The successful candidate will work closely with senior management to develop and implement strategies that align with Ventro's business objectives while ensuring compliance with industry regulations and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Management

  • Lead and manage Purchasing, Operational Support, and Labour Recruitment teams to ensure high performance
  • Set clear objectives, KPIs, and provide feedback and development
  • Foster a collaborative, results-driven work environment

Procurement & Supply Chain Management

  • Oversee procurement strategies, supplier negotiations, and cost control
  • Build strong supplier relationships to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies and industry standards
  • Monitor material availability and lead times for project timelines and budgets

Operational Support & Process Optimisation

  • Manage coordination between pre-construction, design, and project teams
  • Identify and implement process improvements for efficiency and project readiness
  • Ensure accurate documentation, reporting, and communication to minimise delays and risks
  • Support pre-construction planning with the Project Management team

Labour Recruitment & Workforce Planning

  • Oversee workforce planning, recruitment, and onboarding processes
  • Develop strategies to attract and retain top talent across various roles
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and safety standards
  • Align workforce forecasting with project demands and business growth

Budgeting & Financial Management

  • Manage departmental budgets for cost efficiency and operational effectiveness
  • Monitor financial performance and identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Support financial planning and forecasting for pre-construction activities

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with fire safety, health & safety, and industry standards
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to procurement, workforce management, and operations
  • Stay updated on regulatory changes to maintain compliance

The successful candidate will:

  • Relevant industry certifications in procurement, project management, or fire safety is desirable
  • Proven experience in a senior pre-construction, procurement, or operations role within the fire safety, construction, or related industry
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing multiple teams
  • In-depth understanding of procurement, supply chain management, workforce planning, and operational processes
  • Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets
  • Knowledge of fire safety regulations, construction compliance, and labour laws
  • Proficient in relevant software, including procurement, workforce management, and project planning tools
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
