Job description

Are you an experienced Operations Manager or Operations Director looking for your next role as Head of Operations Are you confident in leading the day to day and strategic operational delivery at a specialist manufacturing organisation Are you looking to join a well invested and ambitious business looking to grow and develop through improved delivery and customer satisfaction

Kingscroft have been asked to recruit for a Head of Operations by a specialist manufacturing business. As the ideal candidate you will have experience of leading manufacturing operations in an automotive supplier or similar business and be confident of delivering best practice across Production, Maintenance, Quality, H&S, and Planning.

Working closely with the MD and Senior Team your tasks and duties will include:

  • Leading Operations which includes, Production, Maintenance, Quality, HS, Customer service / planning
  • Lead and manage the full Operations function across multiple lines and shifts.
  • Ensure production targets (output, quality, efficiency) are consistently achieved or exceeded.
  • Implement and drive Lean Manufacturing, JIT, and continuous improvement methodologies across the plant.
  • Manage production planning in collaboration with supply chain, logistics, and engineering teams.
  • Ensure compliance with automotive quality standards (e.g. IATF 16949, ISO 9001, VDA 6.3, ISO 14001, ISO 45001) and customer-specific requirements.
  • Support new product introductions and processes (NPI) and pre-production builds.
  • Maintain high standards of health safety, working closely with HSE teams to reduce risk and maintain compliance.
  • Manage cost reduction initiatives, and productivity improvements.
  • Coach, develop, and motivate production managers, and supervisors.
  • Collaborate with quality, maintenance, and engineering functions to ensure seamless operations and quick resolution of downtime or quality issues.
  • Support cross-functional problem solving, including root cause analysis and corrective actions (e.g. 8D, 5 Whys).
