Head of Operations, Tayside Contracts

Head of Operations - £111,522 per annum (pay award pending)

Tayside Contracts is the commercial trading arm of Angus, Dundee City and Perth and Kinross Councils. We are the largest and longest-serving local authority shared service in Scotland, employing approximately 2,500 employees serving 420,000 citizens.

We are looking for a highly motivated, inspirational and strategic leader to lead our Construction and Facilities Services Divisions who provide roads maintenance, vehicle maintenance, quarry, cleaning, catering and facilities management services cross the whole of the Tayside region.

Tayside, located in the heart of Scotland, encompasses Angus, Dundee City and Perth and Kinross and offers a magnificent blend of city, rural and coastal living.

As Head of Operations, the successful candidate will have responsibility for ensuring the delivery of a wide range of services ensuring Tayside Contracts meets the requirements of best value and continuous improvements, empowering employees, improving performance, encouraging innovation, and promoting good employee relations through proven experience of working effectively and in partnership with Trade Unions.

We are looking for someone with extensive proven experience in a senior leadership role in a large multi-discipline organisation where working with a board of management or representative stakeholder and senior colleagues is necessary. You will have strong financial and budgetary management skills, a high level of political astuteness and resilience, alongside the ability to apply strong commercial skills to enable the organisation to deliver its objectives within statutory and value for money requirements.

Your ability to form close and productive working relationships within and out with the organisation is key, as is the ability to inspire confidence in others and lead and motivate multiple teams to achieve high and effective performance.

You will be degree qualified in an engineering, facilities or management related subject or have the equivalent experience. You will also be a member of a relevant professional association or body.
