Who we are

The Skytanking organisation has two divisions, ‘Fuel’ and ‘Airport Operations’, the Fuel division is head-quartered in Hamburg, Germany and a part of Primeflight (head-quartered in Houston, USA), this role will reports into Operations Director within Airport Operations, in the event of cross product and/or global initiatives then the role will function within a wider Skytanking/Primeflight team. All references in this JD are on the basis of operating within the Airport Operations division only; which is currently based in London, England and operating in the U.K., Netherlands and Italy.

A leadership role which is a key member of the Skytanking Operations team, working in collaboration with the Station Managers and the Training & Safety Compliance Manager. The role will be responsible for the overall management of the stations training teams, ensuring the effective delivery of training programs across all departments. This role involves maintaining high-quality training and compliance standards, leading and coaching the training teams, and working closely with senior management to drive continuous improvement in training initiatives.

A key focus of the role will be to conduct a root and branch review of all current training processes, controls and systems before making strategic recommendations for the framework, governance, controls, systems and processes to enable the business to deliver operational excellence for our clients. This is a people centric role, developing and delivering through the training teams first in class training and coaching, enabling our employees to be the best safety and service delivery in the ground handling market.

Responsible for ensuring compliant and appropriate training, coaching, and accountability for all business unit training managers and team members with the objective to optimise the regional resource pool as the market leader whilst ensuring all operations comply with our long-term goals and vision.

Your tasks

Job Accountabilities Linked To Objective Areas

  • Ensure safe and secure operations in all aspects
  • Oversee the consistency and quality of training and compliance standards across the Skytanking team, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Develop, manage, and maintain comprehensive training programs to ensure consistency in training delivery and exceed expectations.
  • Implement practical and effective training plans, regularly reviewing and refining them to meet operational needs.
  • Act as a key driver in the development and execution of training and compliance programs.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Management Team to ensure the efficient delivery of training sessions and courses.
  • Ensure service delivery to airline customers aligns with service level agreements and operational targets.
  • Provide leadership and day-to-day coaching of station training managers, fostering employee development through mentoring, training, and performance reviews.
  • Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to training and compliance, ensuring continuous improvement.
  • Maintain strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively follow procedures and engage with stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate excellence and knowledge in the audit process to ensure compliance with industry and regulatory standards.
  • Coaching, mentoring and development of resource planning/allocation teams, including performance management, talent management and succession planning.
  • Delegate responsibilities to, empower and hold accountable the work of direct reports providing guidance and motivation to drive maximum performance.
  • Develop and implement framework, governance, controls, systems and processes, including delivering the business strategic goal of a singular regional training management standard/process and costs.

Your profile

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree plus a relevant post-graduate professional qualification in Training or equivalent experience.

Experience

  • Proven track record of exceptional performance and service delivery of training in airport operations (or equivalent/adjacent sector e.g logistics) leadership role, including leading a team of aviation training professionals.
  • Having direct and full ownership experience and a proven track record of delivering training requirements in line with a company-wide training budget.
  • Evidence of having a passion for working with people and working beyond the confines of the job description.
  • Outstanding communication skills – able to deliver bad news and give it a positive outlook as well as ability to influence senior stakeholders including airline customers and regulatory bodies.
  • Proven organisation skills and ability to prioritise.
  • Thrives on constant change.
  • Advanced in the use of MS Office applications and Operational systems.

Leadership role

  • Yes, able to influence people at all levels within the company Language
  • Spoken and written fluency in English is mandatory; spoken and written fluency in another European language (as a second language) would be an advantage

Mobility

  • Must be able to work across the UK and Europe (based in London or any of the UK Stations, travelling approx. 50% of time) .
  • Can obtain security clearance and qualify for an air-side security pass (no legal restrictions)
  • Possesses a valid full UK driver’s license and Passport
