Lloyd’s is seeking to recruit a Head of Operational Risk to ensure operational risks are effectively managed in line with the appetite set by Lloyd’s Council. The role involves leading strategic engagement with functions responsible for managing operational risks, providing oversight and challenge to risk exposures.

Principal Accountabilities

1. Strategy and leadership
2. Operate and enhance the framework to identify, assess, and monitor operational risks, including people, process, systems, and external risks.
3. Develop and maintain strategic relationships with the C-suite and heads of business functions, influencing senior stakeholders to ensure effective risk management.
4. Provide oversight and challenge to functions managing operational risks, recommending improvements where necessary.
5. Lead strategic reviews of key risk areas and report findings to the executive, Risk Committee, and Board as needed.
6. Manage Lloyd’s response to regulatory engagement on operational risks, including market resilience.
7. Ensure operational resilience within the risk appetite and regulatory requirements, maintaining core service delivery.

Additional Responsibilities

• Assess strategic threats and provide top-down risk oversight of Lloyd’s strategy and business model.
• Monitor and challenge change projects and programmes, establishing a framework for change risk management.
• Oversee cyber and digital risks, leading the Digital Risk team to maintain effective risk identification and management.
• Lead the Operational Risk team within the Risk Management Function.
• Support broader risk and regulatory activities, engaging with risk representatives across the business.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

• Expertise in risk management tools, frameworks, and Solvency II requirements.
• Knowledge of business operations, processes, and key risks including people, process, and technology.
• Understanding of the insurance industry and Lloyd’s market.
• Leadership and management skills, with experience leading high-performing teams.
• Experience in regulatory communication and stakeholder management, including challenging senior stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills.
