Job Description:
We’re recruiting for a Head of Operational Governance to join us. In this role, you will provide governance services including monitoring, controlling, reporting, and management of risk across Legal & General Home Finance (LGHF).
You will also provide advice, guidance, challenge, and support to the senior team across the business area and work with line management in the identification, management reporting, and mitigation of risk to meet regulatory and Group requirements.
What you'll be doing:
- Implement effective governance frameworks, ensuring that business practices have the appropriate risk mitigation controls embedded and that the frameworks reflect L&G Group’s policies and standards within regulatory requirements.
- Report in line with LGHF and L&G Group risk management frameworks to ensure understanding of regulatory responsibilities, capturing and addressing non-compliance or limitations.
- Lead and develop the business oversight function, including complaints, using insights to improve processes, reduce risk, and enhance customer outcomes.
- Oversee data privacy and quality across LGHF, working closely with the Data Protection Officer.
- Collaborate with the Operations Director to ensure governance requirements are met, including those of LGHF’s funder.
- Manage second and third line review activities, ensuring timely completion of actions.
- Build relationships across L&G Retail and Group to champion fair treatment, compliance, and reporting standards.
Qualifications
Who we're looking for:
- Effective communicator at all levels, capable of managing senior stakeholders and presenting at committees.
- Proven leadership and influencing skills in complex organizations.
- Strong relationship-building skills, team-oriented, and proactive in sharing ideas.
- Ability to develop internal and external networks, sharing best practices.
- Understanding of mortgage market, corporate governance, and mortgage governance best practices is advantageous.
- Knowledge of the Senior Managers and Certification Regime and industry issues such as regulation and government strategy is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Legal & General’s corporate and governance structures and reporting arrangements.
- Deep knowledge of risk management, assurance policies, and procedures.
