Within Phoenix Group, we have an incredible opportunity to work on our Standard Life brand, as a Head of New Business in our Workplace Trading team.

Job Type: Permanent

Location: Hybrid role, involving travel to London and Edinburgh (guideline 1–2 days travel per week).

Salary and benefits: Up to £125,000 DOE plus Bonus, private medical cover, 38 days annual leave, pension, 12x salary life assurance, career breaks, income protection, 3 volunteering days, and more.

The role

We seek a confident leader for the Workplace New Business function. The successful candidate will evolve the strategy to strengthen market presence, build a robust pipeline, and support retention activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, engage, develop, and motivate the New Business team to meet targets and objectives.
  • Manage relationships with key advisers, develop new business pipelines, and oversee implementation into BAU.
  • Build relationships with external stakeholders, including clients and advisers, to ensure excellent service and evolve offerings.
  • Use commercial awareness to develop competitive proposals and act as a point of escalation and resolution.
  • Define and evolve the New Business strategy aligned with growth ambitions, ensuring adequate resources.
  • Increase market visibility through participation in industry events like PLSA, Corporate Adviser Summit, and SL-hosted events like Thinking Forward.
What are we looking for?
  • Proven track record in a senior Workplace DC Sales role with strong performance against targets.
  • Experience building relationships with senior stakeholders to meet or exceed client expectations.
  • Ability to lead a virtual team with diverse colleagues.
  • Capability to manage conflicting demands under pressure.
  • Confidence to represent Standard Life at industry events and client pitches.
