Job summary

JobsinED Ltd seeks an experienced Head of Music for a fantastic secondary school in Tower Hamlets, East London. From January 2027, the post blends classroom teaching with strategic leadership, shaping the Music curriculum and coordinating concerts and enrichment activities for KS3 and KS4.

The successful candidate will drive teaching excellence, mentor staff and champion student participation in music beyond the curriculum, aligning with school goals for high standards.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates Good or Outstanding classroom teaching
• Brings strong musical knowledge and confident practical musicianship
• Shows leadership potential or experience in departmental responsibility
• Communicates effectively with colleagues, students and school leaders
• Understands curriculum development, assessment and raising standards

Responsibilities

• Lead the Music department with clear academic and creative priorities
• Deliver engaging Music lessons across KS3 and KS4
• Develop a challenging, accessible Music curriculum
• Mentor colleagues to strengthen teaching practice
• Organise concerts, performances and extracurricular activities
• Monitor student progress and use assessment to improve outcomes
