Head of Music - Permanent Role - September Start

Location: Secondary School in Luton
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Start Date: September 2025
Salary: Main Pay Scale 1 to Upper Pay Scale 3 - 33,075 to 50,471, depending on experience

Are you a passionate and committed Music educator ready to lead a dynamic department? A welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Luton is seeking to appoint a Head of Music on a permanent basis, starting September 2025.



The Role:

  • Lead and manage the Music department, delivering high-quality teaching and inspiring students across KS3 to KS4

  • Design and implement an engaging curriculum that encourages creativity and musical excellence

  • Organise concerts, performances, and extracurricular music opportunities

  • Contribute to whole-school culture through collaborative planning and cross-curricular engagement



The Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds QTS and has experience teaching Music at secondary level

  • Brings strong subject knowledge and either prior leadership experience or readiness to step into a leadership role

  • Has excellent classroom management and a passion for inclusive, engaging music education

  • Is confident in developing musical talent both in and outside the classroom
