What’s your role at the company?

The role reports to the UK Sales Director and the successful appointee will serve as a senior sales leader within the UK business. The successful candidate will be responsible for all UK sales into National Merchant, Independent Merchant, Merchant Buying Groups, and Industrial Customers; leveraging the company’s long-standing market presence and reputation for high quality, service, and operational excellence.

This appointment is an opportunity to strengthen the sales leadership team, and therefore the individual will need to contribute to both the overall sales strategy and culture whilst also leading the development and execution of the channel sales performance.

Main Responsibilities

  • Growth of sales revenue and sales margins:
  • Developing and strengthening existing customer relationships
  • Identifying and onboarding new strategic customers
  • Finding value within the service offering and specifications in order to create value-based selling opportunities.
  • The successful candidate will lead a Merchant Team of 13 people with 4 direct reports. They will need to demonstrate leadership and development skills and will also need to support the wider UK business's commercial strategy and goals.
  • Establish a wide internal and external network to enable, accelerate, and embed best practice and support for the company's growth ambitions and strategies.
  • Drive channel intel and customer agenda which builds strong and sustainable relationships with key trade partners that in turn accelerate customer engagement and grow the number of long-term sustainable relationships.

  • Product margin profitability for UK sawn timber sales
  • Growing volume and sales margin
  • Developing the efficiency of UK merchant distribution
  • Supporting wider group commercial aims and targets

  • Proven track record of growing Merchant sales in the UK market
  • Experience working directly with Merchant customers in the UK Market
  • Customer-oriented and creative: willing to be hands-on with the trade while committed to building and leading from behind, with results driven by team capability and active customer partnerships
  • Experience developing teams and leading by example
  • Effective and well-rounded commercial negotiation skills that create sustainable, end-to-end, conditional agreements
  • Culturally sensitive and adaptable
