Position Summary

·The Senior Director, Regional Head, Medical Centralised Operations, will provide overall business leadership, project management, facilitation, and fiscal discipline to all organizational management, financial management, capability development, and strategic direction for the Europe Medical Organisation. Reporting to the VP & Head of Medical Affairs, Europe, this role is central to delivering Europe Medical's ambition.

Key Responsibilities

·Strategic Leadership: Ensure Europe Medical Affairs successfully plans, delivers, and executes medical operations under the guidance of the VP & Head of Medical Affairs, Europe.

·Implementation and Oversight: Lead the implementation of the Chief Patient Officer (CPO) Organisation's operating model, including strategic medical priorities, capability building, business planning, external engagement, and KPI management. Partner closely with cross-functional and matrix stakeholders.

·Facilitation and Improvement: Facilitate Europe Medical Leadership Team (EMLT) meetings, ensuring focus on organizational goals. Identify improvement opportunities and drive key initiatives to enable continuous improvement across Europe.

·Strategic Projects: Collaborate with the VP & Head of Medical Affairs, Europe, Regional TA Heads, and Country Medical Directors (CMDs) to develop and implement strategic regional projects. These projects aim to drive performance, optimize operational effectiveness, and deliver value to stakeholders and customers. Projects may include process improvement, systems implementation, standardization, or harmonization.

·Commercial Collaboration: Strengthen the interface between Commercial and CPO by working with CMDs, Commercial Teams, Regional TA Heads, and the VP & Head of Medical Affairs, Europe. Facilitate strategies and tactics that enable LOC medical teams to deliver exceptional value to customers, stakeholders, and patients.

·Organizational Pulse: Provide coaching and counselling to the EMLT on the organization's overall pulse, identifying key change management needs, and translating them into leadership initiatives.

·Capability Development: Partner with CPO Capabilities and GPS teams to develop and implement medical capability and expertise training and certification programs.

·Talent Management: Work with HR to execute Medical talent planning and development activities. Enhance the talent pipeline, promote inclusion and diversity, and support career development. Manage and develop talents through robust development practices, leadership expectations, and available resources for the CPO organization.

·Global Alignment and Coordination: Drive alignment and coordination of Europe Medical with key strategic directions and initiatives of Global Medical. Actively engage in the Global Operations Lead Team and Global Operations Network to leverage Global GSK resources, represent Europe Medical's best practices, and manage key central projects for the VP & Head of Medical Affairs, Europe.

·Performance Metrics: Partner with the VP & Head of Medical Affairs, Europe, in driving the CPO LT performance agenda in the region. Provide and analyse metrics to support business decisions and enhance performance.

·High-Performance Culture: Foster a culture of high performance and continuous improvement. Manage and develop the Regional Medical Excellence Leads in Europe, ensuring accountability and excellence.

·This role is integral to the success of Europe Medical Affairs and requires a strategic, collaborative, and results-driven leader to drive operational excellence and deliver significant value to GSK's stakeholders and customers.

Basic Qualifications:

  • MD, PharmD or PhD in a scientific discipline
  • Experience in Strategic Medical Affairs roles within a global Pharma Company at Director level or above
  • Understanding of Medical Affairs and the role it plays within the pharmaceutical industry and the impact it has on patient outcomes, and strategic integrated medical business planning
  • Experience in Pharma Strategy and Operations
  • Experience in at least one major tier 1 market
  • Experience of working in an above country role
  • Experience of working in a matrix environment

Experience Required

·Leadership Experience: Proven track record in senior leadership roles within the medical or pharmaceutical industry, with demonstrated success in strategic planning, execution, and delivering business results.

·Project Management: Extensive experience in leading and managing complex projects, preferably within a medical or healthcare setting, including process improvement, systems implementation, and harmonization initiatives.

·Stakeholder Engagement: Strong experience in partnering with cross-functional and matrix stakeholders, including Commercial Teams, Medical Affairs, and other key internal and external partners.

·Operational Excellence: Expertise in driving operational effectiveness, including capability building, business planning, and medical operations management.

·Change Management: Significant experience in organizational development and change management, with a focus on continuous improvement and high performance.

·Talent Development: Demonstrated ability in talent planning and development, including enhancing the talent pipeline, promoting diversity and inclusion, and supporting career development.

·Medical Affairs Knowledge: Deep understanding of medical affairs, including external engagement, medical key performance indicators, and strategic medical priorities.

·Global Coordination: Experience in aligning and coordinating regional operations with global strategic directions, leveraging global resources, and managing central projects.

·Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills to provide and analyse metrics that support business decisions and enhance performance.

·Strong influencing skills Navigating complexity and leading without authority in the matrix. This is a necessity to unlock opportunities and challenges to ensure Europe has a strong and impactful voice at a global level

·Communication and Facilitation: Excellent communication, coaching, and facilitation skills to effectively lead the Europe Medical Leadership Team and other key initiatives.
